Hawaiian Loco Moco
A Hawaiian diner plate of steamed white rice topped with a seared ground beef hamburger patty, blanketed in savory brown gravy made from beef stock, onions and mushrooms, and crowned with a fried egg. The runny yolk breaks over everything to bind rice, patty and sauce.

Instructions
1
Prep
Season the ground beef with half the salt and pepper and shape into one flat patty about 1cm thick.
2
Sear
Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patty 3 minutes per side until a deep brown crust forms. Set aside.
3
Saute
Add butter to the skillet over medium heat, cook diced onion and sliced mushroom 4 minutes, then stir in the flour and cook 1 minute until pasty.
4
Simmer
Pour in beef stock and Worcestershire sauce, whisking over medium-low heat 4 minutes until the gravy thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
5
Plate
Fry the egg over medium heat until the white sets and yolk stays runny, then spoon rice onto a plate, set patty on top, pour gravy over, and crown with the egg.
